Once Upon a Courtship #5

Today’s Featured Author: Louise M Gouge

Author Louise M Gouge is next up. Her contribution to the boxset is Abiding Faith, Freedom’s Call. I love the title. Speaks volumes about the content. Faith, freedom, call, and abiding is what I love to read. How about you?

Let’s start the “book Chat” with our second featured author, Louise M Gouge.

Question 1: What inspired you to write Abiding Faith: Freedom's Call?

Answer: When I completed my first Love Inspired Historical series (2009—2011), which is set during the American Revolution, I wanted to write about one of my secondary characters, Anne Hussey. This is her story.

Question 2: What are your favorite quotes from the book?

Answer: Characters say it best.

“May I help thee, friend?” The music of her voice swept through him like a long-forgotten song, and emotion rose in his chest. A Quaker lady. Like his mother.

“Now, Patrick Blakemore, thee must tell me more about thyself. Tell me about thy family in England and why thee has set thyself to fight against them.”

“Mrs. Hussey…Anne…” He whispered her Christian name. “How can I see to your safety if I am not with you?”

In that moment, she knew that she loved Patrick Blakemore. From his dear smile at her now, she believed he loved her in return.

“Anne, I care for you more than my own life. Tell me now whether we can have a future together. If not, I must go—”

Without hesitation, she gripped his arm. “Yes, dear Patrick. I can think of no future without thee.”

To her foolish disappointment, he leaned forward and placed a sweet kiss on her cheek instead of her all-too-willing lips.

“Ah, dearest Anne.” Patrick gently tugged her into his arms. “How could your husband strike you?” She sighed as she rested her head against his chest.

Question 3: Give us a quick overview of the storyline.

Answer: A pacifist Quaker widow and a prisoner of war war officer risk their lives to find God’s will for their future. But will the gap between peace and the American Revolution be a chasm to wide to cross to reach their happiness?

Question #4: Is there a spiritual or inspirational tone that you want the readers to experience?

Answer: My hope is that readers will see the importance of seeking God’s will for every decision, both small and great, and trusting He knows what is best for us.

Question #5: How can readers stay in touch with Author Louise M Gouge?

Answer: Find Author Louise Gouge all over the net: She’d love to connect with you.
